But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

 
Recently, a friend gave me a question about “What’s God's own love for us?”. He saw many people claiming love, inducing a warm feeling, and thinking that’s worship. But to him, he simply feels nothing of it. Even all of those ritualistic behaviors confused him. He expects answers, solid answers out of the word of God. Thus, he wants certain perspective as his reference. Honestly, I don’t know the ultimate answer either. God's love is broad and endless, but I defined an attitude to standardize my discernment of love in faith. I don’t think the love of God is an emotional feeling, a sentimental illusion or even about heart’s desire. It should be concerned with to give people what they “need” but not what they want. The key word “need” is what I would like to emphasize here. In order to discriminate the true “need” of folk, we have to rely on the foundation that is nourished on the words of the faith and the sound doctrine. If a believer’s only desire is to be happy, healthy, wealthy, prosperous, and wise, he will become a follower only wish to be satisfied and comforted. But in the whole faith, there are also other parts, such as biblical teaching, moral support and spiritual thought. Those are all about to improve us to become a better person comparing to our original one. So, I believe there would be all kinds of love that is claimed and filled in the faith group. But no matter what is their truly being, maybe think this for a while, God’s love is not just to satisfy us, but to set a purpose of how to reform us. By this, the expressing words of love will be not exterior decoration any more. We will not be afraid of emotional illusion, a false idea or belief, but to recognize and aim at the truth of God’s own love for us.
 
Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.
