And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ — to the glory and praise of God.

-Philippians 1:9-11

I always think C. S. Lewis is a very serious and stern person until recently I found another his published book "The Screwtape Letters." It totally changed my view of C. S. Lewis. "The Screwtape Letters" is a very interesting collection of letters written by a senior demon "Screwtape" to teach his nephew, a junior demon named "Wormwood", on how to make people surrender their souls. The citation of the Letters IX-- "Keep his mind off the plain antithesis between true and false" is self-explanatory. Simply speaking, the key to this trick is to keep people totally confused, blinded, and eventually gave up their discernment. According to this letter, the most powerful way to lead human astray is to make them desiring backing away from the truth. This is the reason why people need deep faith to deal with their sin or wanton desires.

With the world violently filled with chaos, religion is supposed to offer God's truth to help people build a wall against worldly attacks. In this way, it makes sense that the believer's obligation is to fight for the truth and proclaim the real Gospel. But the problem is that we live in a time when the climate of the religious institutions is to tolerate backsliding. To be differentiating and discerning is not a popular attitude to posses among these God-worshipping places. The current trend of religious institutes is leaning toward marketing hermeneutic theology, because people often only want their desires be satisfied and stay in their comfort zone. In marketing religion, the method employed is to promote unity and non-division attitude to the utmost and even to extreme in some cases. This kind of attitude emphasizes on not saying anything to correct others. This would make everyone entitles to what he or she wants to believe. In thinking that “let's be loving and be united,” they believe the temple will have prestige and popularity. Notwithstanding, lacking the teaching of God's revelation and the foundation of truth, this faith will become merely another superstition. In sum, to be as gracious, loving and gentle as we can be is very important but don't forget that no one can distort the messages of God in any circumstance.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
